You Say
04:20
|
|||
Lying awake, eyes closed
Thinking how to get out of this
Escape, don't move
Standing at the edge of abyss
Stay still, he'll know
Just let the thoughts slip away
You, hear the sigh won't
Let him know I'm awake
You say, I cause the anger
You say, I should surrender
You say, I'm the pretender
You say, I should be tender
You say, I should be grateful
You say, I'm the dissenter
You say, don't you remember
I say, don't you want to be free
Give up the fight
Who knows who's right
Just let it go now
Breathe, and don't lose sight
Who knows who's right
Just let it go now
Lying so close, don't touch
Feelings getting far too intense
Don't know, can't think
How to get out of this
Don't sigh, or cry
Just keep it it all inside
Too tired, to fight
Don't let it start up again
You say, I should surrender
You say, I cause the anger
You say, I'm the dissenter
You say, I should be grateful
You say, I should be tender
You say, I'm the pretender
You say, I make you call me a bitch
I say, don't you want to be free
Give up the fight
Who knows who's right
Just let it go now
Breathe, and don't lose sight
Who knows who's right
Just let it go now
You say, I cause the anger
You say, I should surrender
You say, I'm the pretender
You say, I should be tender
You say, I should be grateful
You say, I'm the dissenter
You say, don't you remember
I say, don't you wanna be (free)
You say, I cause the anger
You say, I should surrender
You say, I'm the pretender
You say, I'm the dissenter
You say, I should be grateful
You say, I'm the pretender
You say, don't you remember
You say, I make you call me a bitch

Behind The Glass
04:40
|
|||
You seem
Confused by how you feel
Do you seek some kind of relief
Keep me safe behind the glass, locked away
So look at me
Just a look can set you free
What you've done will never be seen
Whilst I'm kept behind the glass, locked away
Do you know
What to feel as you go
Is your conscience telling you no
As I am locked behind the glass, kept away
From prying eyes
You can't let them realise
I will blind them all from the lies
Just keep me locked behind the glass, locked away
I'm your pain
That keeps you sane
I am your guilt
Your sweet regret
I am to blame
But keep me safe
For all you felt
Behind the glass
I'm your pain
That keeps you sane
I am your guilt
Your sweet regret
I am to blame
But keep me safe
For all you felt
Behind the glass, locked away
Don't let it go
Keep me safe don't let them know
And this place don't ever let on
Keep me locked behind the glass, keep me safe
For I'm your pain
I keep you sane
I am your guilt
Your sweet regret
I am to blame
But keep me safe
For all you felt
Behind the glass
I'm your pain
That keeps you sane
I am your guilt
Your sweet regret
I am to blame
But keep me safe
For all you felt
Behind the glass, locked away
Locked away
Behind the glass
I am your pain I keep you sane
I am the guilt you hide away
I take the blame so keep me safe
From all you felt, behind the glass
I am your pain I keep you sane
I am the guilt you hide away
I take the blame so keep me safe
From all you felt, behind the glass
Locked away
Locked away

Broken Glass
04:50
|
|||
The lies I told, were never atoned
They're hidden all away
All the pain I caused, will never be owned
The guilt I should have felt
Pushed it all away, I set it aside
So they would never know
Burns like a broken thorn, deep in my side
I can't carry on
I always kept you safe, I held the blame
I took your pain, and made it mine
I kept my word, I hid your shame
So do your part, and keep it safe
I'm your fear, they won't accept you
I'm your doubt, they'll never trust you
I'm your shame, they'll never want you
I'm your rage, you must not set me free
I won't hide away, won't allow the fear
You sowed to keep me under
Such a simple act to break the glass
That kept you hidden safely
I'm your fear, they won't accept you
I'm your pain, they'll never trust you
I'm your shame, they'll never want you
I'm your rage, you must not set me free
Fear, I know so well
So you sow it, it just feeds the
Doubt, that never leaves
Now you feel it, can't escape the
Shame, I feel inside
And you use it just to build the
Rage, that I've become
I can't control it, my self-loathing guilt
Fear, I cannot breath, I cannot see
Doubt, open my eyes, my mind is the key
Shame, don't hide away, gotta be free
Rage, shatter the throne, or die alone

Nothing To Prove
03:14
|
|||
I can't decide
Where truth dies
When fear has won there is
Blame, you must find
You must lie
Or come undone out of
Fear, how you live
All you give
When there's no room for me to
Breathe, suff-o-cate
Not my fate
But what you don't know is that
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me, any more
I, must comply
I must smile
Or I'm the one that will
Cause, the disdain
And your pain
You blame me for but
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me
I, have nothing to lose
And nothing to prove
You can't control me

Burning Paper Trondheim, Norway
Writer and recording artist of instrumental rock based music.
Although often progressive in nature,
I like to keep the tracks raw and not too polished. Each has a story in mind, which is told as the track progresses. Given the inspiration is usually some injustice (which is not hard to find!) or memory of regret, they tracks can meander between softer and more aggressive expression.
